Since the Internet has become a standard, a dispute over its impact on social well-being.
There are two groups of people who argue about whether to use the Internet. In the first group are those who argue that social media and the Internet allow you to reach a higher level of social life than before. The second group are those who argue that the increase in the number of time spent online, people are becoming increasingly separated from the others and begin to experience a lack of real human relationships.
Today science can say their say on the matter.
Study in Stockholm School of Economics, revealed links between the people of the Internet and their results in different aspects of social welfare, such as respect for life balance and emotional health.
Head of research, Dr. Elisabeth Engelberg found that people who frequently use the Internet, were noticeably more lonely and worse observe balance than those who use the Internet much less often.
This result is fully supports the view that social media are no substitute for face-to-face communication. It seems that no matter how intensively people interact through social media, they will not find there true human relations required.
In addition, it seems that too much time spent on the Internet, freeze people gain the skills to interact with other people. Dr Engelberg found that people who spend a lot of time on the Internet, have lower rates on the scale of emotional intelligence and social skills.
Pretty unpleasant to realize that people who are most in need of skills to interact with other people, most of their time sitting behind computers alone.
This makes intuitive sense: If people difficult to interact with other people, they will be less willing to participate in social interaction. So they give their time solitude, most often using the Internet.
But, in so doing, these people do not have an opportunity to improve their communication skills. They descend all below, with more and more time on the Internet and becoming increasingly lonely. They never feel comfortable in communicating with others.
To exit this vicious circle, people should turn off their computers, to go out and start creating real human relationships with others.
A study of Dr. Engelberg revealed that it is vitally important. Especially in today's world, where people spend more and more time on the Internet.
